Historical Fact- Napolean Bonnaparte wan't just an emperror he has been been credited to as a man of science and led a famous expidition to Egypt.
Do you believe in ghosts? Are you scared of them? Don't worry, you don't need to answer any of these questions because we aren't discussing scary monsters that lurk under your bed or drink your blood. We are talking about ghosts that exist as particles. They might not haunt you but would surely make you question your reality.
We all know what electrons are. Right? They are one of the fundamental particles that make up our univerese. And now allow me to distort your conception of what you call reality. Electrons break down into numerous more particles, they separate into an array of ghost electrons.
Let's slow down and take a clearer view of this weird concept.
There was this experiment called the double-slit experiment that was carried out to study the properties of electrons, mainly particle-wave duality.
This experiment had the given setup:
The beam gun was used to shoot electrons while the setup was closed.
The experiment has many significances and implications but we are going to use the desirable one.
So, let's get started.
As you can see in the setup there is an electron gun that is as I said earlier used to release or shoot electrons. Going further you see a square with two rectangular holes in it. These holes are slits through which the electron shall pass. And then finally there is a screen that detects where the electron has landed. Pretty simple right? (I would like to mention that this experiment was ideally conducted to test particle-wave duality. I will tell you more about this concept in upcoming blogs. Also, please ignore the interference pattern in the given image as it is not required to understand ghost electrons.)
Now expectations were that the electron would have come from one of the holes but..... we got something that we had pretty not expected. The path of the electron when traced was coming from both slits. Not only that, it followed several different paths. From this, it was proved that the electron has.
Now, these are the electrons that we call ghost electrons.
This brings us back to where we started this blog because if the particles that we call fundamental just do not seem to exist in the way we suppose them to exist and how am I even supposed to put it? It is way too crazy. because of these wave fluctuations, these collapsing waves nothing at all can be called 'really' real.
Well, that's it for this PI BLOG, I hope you enjoyed reading I'll see you in our next blog.
Till then adios PIons.
